Every day in 2008 I will post a photo with little more than a caption. This blog is for my pictures, not my words. But being a writer, and based on the premise that a picture is worth a thousand words, you're looking at 365 Thousand Words. This year you get a special limited edition bonus picture on Feb 29th. That's 366 Thousand Words for the price of 365. Bargain.

My daily ritual at Casa De La Lav. This went on for about a month......
After going to bed at about 1am and falling asleep about 3am, id get woken by the barking dog owned by the inbreds next door at about 5am. The dog would stop barking about 7am. At that time id have to go piss (due to the 4 cans of Pepsi Max pixie juice id drunk the evening before). Id maybe see the money earner on my way back from the executive bathroom in the eastern wing. We both looked like sh1t - but at least he wore a ironed shirt, or at times a shirt with a picture of him on it dressed like an Elf. Get it - Elf's and Pixie juice????
Anyway, i gotta finish the story before the crack wears off.
Id then fall into the bed and into a nice slumber until about 9am - when the 42 degree heat would sometimes wake me - at other times id just wake normally.
So then id go drop the rest of the pixie juice off, go to the fridge and then get me some soda water to start the day. At times id hear the girl and her mum in their bedroom. At times there was silence as the man, woman and girl didnt sleep all that well overnight, so the mum and bub would get some shuteye while they could.
Most days id go over to the window where these very curtains are. Id draw the curtains together and grab that gold piece of fabric and tie the curtains together. The rent a dog would come out of the doghouse and look at me all like "hey man, cmon man, take me for a walk man" But that would have to wait until the money earner returned from the megapixel shop each night - and besides, the one time i did take the dog for a walk man, the big bad dog got spooked by a teency little poofer dog and ran to the left - and my shoulder went to the right. Its the right shoulder that got ruined in Nam when I was fighting the VC in the tunnels while we were listening to the Robin Williams radio show. At least thats what I tell people. Telling them the truth that i fell off a boardroom chair in front of my team and my boss and my boss' boss would make me sound like some kind of idiot. So ill stick with the Nam story thank you very much.
So you see that gold piece of fabric is kinda special to me. It signaled the start to a new day. New days are fun to some. Not fun to others. Those new days were hard. My reason to believe was gone. The memories help. But the reason to get up and do it all again just wasn't there anymore. But opening those curtains and securing them with that piece of gold fabric made the new day seem normal.
I like that piece of gold fabric.
